Session 1: Who is Wisdom and what are her attributes? What conditions do we need to have in our hearts in order to be given the gift of Wisdom? Wisdom need not wait for old age; it can come in youth. How so?
Session 2: Wisdom's Worldview. Wisdom allows us to know, judge and act according to the truth. Wisdom gives us a worldview which allows us to properly interpret history, current events and our own lives. It stands in contrast to the worldview of those who fail to recognize the Creator in his creation. How can we form Wisdom‘s worldview in ourselves and our children?
Session Three: How Wisdom Governs the World. Rightly ruling the world means ordering it according to the designs of God's Wisdom in creating it. God governs fortiter et suaviter. mightily and meekly, respecting our freedom and at the same time always patiently leading us back to the truth. How can we lead those under our care in the same way and how can we teach them to do the same?
Session Four: The Pedagogy of the Humble God. How God teaches us through the History of Salvation- He "Wins by losing,“ no matter what we do. God's Wisdom always offers us opportunities to correct ourselves in and through the very things that we used to sin. God’s mercy and justice ever seek to spur our conversion and renewal. In the face of our inevitable 'lacks of performance,” how do we keep renewing our own hope and instilling this attitude in our children?
Session Five: A multitude of wise men is the salvation of the world (Wis 6:24). The role of the “friends of God” in the Book of Wisdom is to save the world and renew creation. In this class, we will explore our responsibility to reflect the light of God’s Wisdom in a world given over to idolatrous ideologies. Special emphasis will be given to the importance of continually fostering a desire for and love for truth in ourselves and in those around us.
